Dan Mohler - The importance of a perspective of truth

Luke 11:34 - Matthew 6:22 - “The eye is the lamp of the body. If the eye is single” - follow me - “if the eye is single,” not multiple choice - come on flow with me - “if the eye is single,” not optional - not “yeah but”, “yeah but” - “if the eye is single” - that means if the eye is looking through Him - through Truth - fine tuned and honed in on Truth - it’s not broad view. “Broad is the way to destruction.” Narrow - “if the eye is single the whole body is flooded with light.”1

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If the eye is single the whole body is flooded with light. If the eye is not single” or unhealthy “the body is flooded with darkness” - ewh. Watch this phrase. “If the light in you is darkness” - Isn’t that amazing? - “if the light in you is darkness” - What’s it saying? What were you created for? The light. But if the light in you is darkness, it says, “how great is that darkness.” Do you know what that’s saying? Just how twisted is your view. It doesn’t mean you’re dirty and dark. It doesn’t mean you’re condemned and worthless. It means your perspective is in the dark and it’s keeping you in the dark. You’re called to live in the light. We’re called to let our light so shine. If my perspective is not clear and the light in me is darkness, how can I shine light? 2

If I see clear - “the eye is the lamp of the body.” My perspective - if my eye is “single” - that’s King James - “healthy” is another translation - “single” - I like that - if I’m just looking through truth - through Him - not wide view lens - not multiple choice - not “yeah, but”, “well, if”. The world taught us to talk like that. But if my eye is “single”, man if I find my eye through Him, if my eye is “single”, my whole body is flooded with light. If my eye is not “single” there’s darkness. It says, “If the light in you” - it’s Matthew 6:22, Luke 11:34 - “if the light in you is darkness,” Do you hear the perversion? Did you hear what you’re created for? What are you created for? [Light] “But if the light in you is darkness,” it says, “how great is the darkness.” It doesn’t mean, “just how perverted and how lost are you.” It means how twisted is your view. How blind have you become. How distorted are you in what you see. Because if it’s just about “he said, she said” and “you don’t know what I’m going through - yeah pastor that would be great if it was like that but you don’t know how it was when I was growing up.” And we’ve got all this language that keeps us separated from faith and grace. And yet our hearts honor Him and we love Him. And we really do know we need a savior. But if your eye is not single, you’re not flooded with light. If you have “yeah, buts” in your life it’s going to hinder the grace that changes us forever. Are you following me? If I see clear, if I wake up every day and know I’m a son and I rejoice in that - in Him. I’m not talking about a confession. I’m talking about vital relationship - unveiled - co-union with Him.4
