Why this Web Site Got Started

About 4 years ago I was studying John 17 and became convinced that when Jesus talked about believers becoming “one,” He was not only talking about believers being united together but He was primarily talking about believers becoming “one" with God.1

When I first thought about what it would mean to be "one" with God, it sounded unbelievably intimate, if not heretical. Could God really want me to be so close with Him that it could be described as being "one" with Him? Wow, that was not how I was used to thinking. That would change everything. And that seemed to be exactly what Jesus was saying...

I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. John17:20-23 (ESV - Emphasis added)

So the prayer of my heart became two things: God, if it is possible, and if it is Your desire - if it really is OK for me to want to be one with You - then 1) teach me what it is to be one with You and 2) don’t just teach me about it but make me one with You.

Not long afterwards, I “happened” to run across a YouTube video of Dan Mohler. Here was a man who was more than happy to teach me what it means to be "one" with the Father. And I could see that his message was true in his own life because I could see it in his eyes, hear it through his voice and I could sense the LIFE in his words. Dan taught me how to seek my Father in the secret place. All along God had wanted me to be with Him. And everything else - what He wanted to do in me and through me would follow from and flow out of that intimate relationship.

This message is the most beautiful message I have ever heard. And this website then, grew out of wanting - to be around that message - to absorb it - to camp in it - to have it become real in my life and maybe even to help pass it along.

Happy reading, Happy watching.

Note:

1 - This is not to say that believers become God. Just as when a man and woman become one flesh, the man does not become the woman nor does the woman become the man. We were not created to be God but to bear His image to a broken world.
