Day 27

0:00 - Opening Prayer
2:00 - The mystery of God is revealed. There is a major truth about Him that is out in the light.
2:35 - [mic on - better sound]
2:40 - Preaching - spontaneous style - not able to go back and repeat - no notes. It's a grace.
4:15 - 1 John - Chapter 1 is only 10 verses. Without preaching let's just read chapeter 1 and then we'll jump in at chapter 2.
4:55 - 1 John 1 - Reading of Chapter 1
5:00 - v.1 - That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; -
5:10 - v.2 - (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) -
5:30 - I'll just fail on this one. (Reading the chapter straight through)

Death Had No Dominion over Jesus
Meditating on the Crucifixion & Resurrection

5:40 - Eternal life - Death had no claim on Jesus - The last Adam
7:00 - Our coming redemption - We'll be like Him - 1 John 3:2.
7:45 - Jesus could not have died due to the physical beatings - No sin - No death
8:00 - Grieving in the garden due to bearing the cup, the wrath of God, not second guessing in His soul dying for humanity. 8:40 - He wasn't expressing weakness.
8:50 - Luke 22:42 - Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. -
9:00 - Beat beyond description - Marred more than any of the sons of man - Is. 52:14. And He couldn't die.
9:20 - Jesus was still ministering from the cross - John and His mother.
9:50 - He couldn't die - Adam sinned and death entered - Rom. 5:12.
10:15 - He couldn't die until He was pierced for our transgressions - Is. 53:5 - and made to be a curse as sin.
10:20 - He yielded to death.
10:35 - I had thought that God just sustained Him on the cross.
10:40 - He did it as a man empowered by God. He felt pain. God defeated the devil through a man
11:10 - Resurrection - Death couldn't hold Him because satan killed an innocent man.
11:30 - The Power of Innocence - Power of walking in the blood and knowing you are free from sin - walking as a child of God. Keeps the enemy away.
12:25 - Grasp this stuff personally. Not just knowledge. Put it on and wear it.
➡ 13:00 - These were just side notes. Let's read...

* * *

13:05 - v.2
13:15 - v.3 - That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. - which we have seen and heard - He was not writing by faith. He was there.
13:40 - v.4 - And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. - Joy
13:45 - v.5 - This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. -
13:50 - v.6 - If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: - Walking in darkness - If you don't allow the gospel to change you but stay in the same mindsets, mentalities, motives... He's not just talking about practices of sin. Incorporating truth into your life without the change of life.
14:35 - Walking in the light - Walking in love. You can't separate the two. God is light and in Him there is no darkness. Why? Because God is unfailing love.
15:30 - v.7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. - Unity of purpose.

Freedom from Sin & Objection to Righteousness

16:10 - His blood cleanses us from all sin. We are not who we used to be.
16:50 - Everything changes when you throw away the consciousness of sin and let the blood make you brand new.
17:00 - If praying a prayer to go to heaven is all that you are doing then you are selling all of this short. If your only motive is what God can do for you then you miss all of this.
18:10 - v.8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. - He is not saying that you are always going to sin. He just said that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. All he is saying is if we say that we have no need of the blood... "Why do I need the blood to cleanse me of sin? I don't have sin." Read it in context.
18:45 - Pastor had this verse as a question in his heart.
19:00 - This verse is used as an objection to preaching righteousness.
19:15 - Free from sin / remission of sin - is a challenge for some to accept. "Yeah, but brother we are all sinning."
19:30 - Some people think that we are sinning when we breathe.
20:00 - No, Get born again. People are consumed with the consciousness of sin. Then when will I ever bear righteous fruit? Because the tree can't change. It's hopeless.
20:15 - Make a tree good and it's fruit will be good.
20:45 - v.7
21:00 - v.8 - No need of His cleansing blood. You're going to heaven because you've been a good boy - your own righteousness.
21:15 - Example: Rich young ruler - coveting. He was righteous in his own sight. Jesus was telling him why he needs a Savior.
22:00 - Some people think like that. "I've been a good person." Failing to acknowledge sin.
22:15 - v.8 - In other words, He was a fool for coming to the earth. Why come if I don't have sin.
22:30 - v.9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - Confess, not deny. Cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness. He is going to make you righteous if you confess that you have sinned.
22:45 - v.10 - If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. - If we stay in denial and say that we don't need this blood. I'm already righteous.
23:00 - Liar - all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - Rom. 3:23 .
23:15 - 1 John 2 - v.1 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: - He is separating you from the identity of sin and not be consumed and enslaved to sin any more.
24:00 - What he's not saying. I'm writing this to you so that you don't sin but you are always going to sin. That doesn't make sense at all. Read in context.
25:10 - Participant comment - radical shift of thinking.
25:45 - We're afraid to reckon (see) ourselves as dead to sin. We give it power. Reckon yourself dead to sin - Rom. 6:11 . In 1 Peter 2:24 it say that He bore our sin in His body so that we having died to sin...
26:15 - Sin consciousness should be over. But we are afraid to rise up and declare that because of the potential to sin. So we leave sin in it's powerful place and stay intimidated. We lose our identity through that confession. And we don't live like we could.
26:35 - v.1 - IF not WHEN
27:00 - Common objection: Are you saying you don't sin? That's not even the topic. Righteousness, freedom, deliverance, redemption...
27:00 - They make this objection because they live so sin conscious. Defending their old identity. We've accepted a lie.
28:00 - Righteous consciousness produces good fruit. Walk pure. Not be conscious of sin.
28:55 - IF you stumble - That's not who I am in You. (cont.)...

The Whole World is Qualified for Healing - Malchus

29:40 - v.2 - And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. - Whole world - in position to be cleansed and made whole. Unbelievers can be healed. God sees them for their value and potential. The blood pleads for them. The goodness of God leads men to change - Rom. 2:4 .
30:45 - We think they have to get fixed before they can be healed. Qualified for the move of God.
31:00 - Malchus wasn't qualified. Injustice but healed. Jesus fixes him with no conditions and goes with them to die.
32:30 - We would have a lot to say to Malchus. Hold accountable. Jab with the word. Wanting to be right, prove them wrong and get them to shape up.
33:00 - Being "right" but missing righteousness.
33:15 - Jesus was not a Doormat - Not weak. Not wimp. Time will tell. Every knee will bow.

Living Under the Weight of the World

34:20 - Is there a sin omission? He who knows to do good and doesn't do it... - Jas. 4:17. That's a NT definition of sin. When you omit, you violate your conscience. Robs your confidence towards God.
36:00 - You're not responsible to save the whole world but in your sphere of influence you live Christ-like. His yoke is easy - His burden light - Mt. 11:30.
36:16 - Weighed down, condemnation, wear you out. An individual is not the answer for every man. The body of Christ is the answer.
36:45 - You can't even enjoy a walk communing with God because the world is dying around you. I should be praying for someone.
37:00 - A lot of this stuff is in your own mind. Strategy of the enemy. Mind - playground of satan. Thinking a lot.
37:15 - But at the same time not going to the opposite extreme. No cares - God loves me. Taking it easy. There are extremes.
37:20 - You are the steward of your heart. You can know the "why" of your life.
38:20 - Specific direction of the Spirit. Telling you to stop and do something. Our life is not our own. Keeps you living by the Spirit - from taking back the reins of your life.
39:10 - Overwhelmed by the need and numbers. Do justice to your conscience.
39:20 - Demands on time vs. need for healing. Never get into condemnation. We're just learning obedience and pressing through.
39:55 - Condemnation is not Jesus.

God's Good Pleasure to Get His Kids Back

40:00 - NT definition of sin - Anything that is not of faith is sin - Rom. 14:23. So when you are doing things from fear, anxiety. Doing things to please God from fear. If you really get to know Him that's not what is going to move your life. He's happy loving you. It's His good pleasure to give you the kingdom - Luke 12:32. - To give you who He is.
40:45 - Drawing back - But you want to fulfill His good pleasure. Drawing back keeps you from doing that. He can't fulfill His purpose for you. But He's not disgusted.
41:15 - It pleased the Father to bruise His Son. God saw sons getting free, redeemed. He wasn't crying. Pleasure in His heart that sons were getting redeemed. Why? Because He knew in three days Jesus would be raised. Death would have no dominion.
42:35 - Good tidings of great joy. But He would die? He was born to live forever as the King of Glory and you with Him.
43:30 - Heaven was excited because you were going to live.
43:40 - Perspective on Jesus' crucifixion - I want to live like that. Follow You. Not sorrow and sadness. But repentance. Not a suffering Savior but love freely given...

Freedom from Sin & Objection to Righteousness (cont.)

45:10 - v.1 - So don't think that it's not possible to live without the consciousness or evidence of sin. It is possible.
45:30 - IF you sin - The key - We're not thinking to sin, waking up to sin. So if we sin, know that the world is not ending. You have an advocate. That's not to make light of sin but to make much of mercy. So that the goodness of God keeps leading you to a place of change.
46:10 - Participant comment - sin in comparison to what God has done - smaller than the resurrection.
46:15 - Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more - Rom. 5:20.
46:30 - In our liturgy - To accept sinner identity is to be humble. It's true that we lived that way. But it's not to be maintained as an identity.
47:00 - I WAS a wretch but NOW am found. He's changed me. I care about more than me.
47:50 - Shall we continue in sin? Of course not. - Rom 6:1.
48:00 - We look good in righteousness.

Narrow Way - Die to Self - Selfish vs. Selfless

49:15 - We used to live pass / fail. But you already have an A+ on your report card.
49:25 - Mt. 7:14 - Could you explain "narrow is the way" and how that reconciles to what you preach?
49:35 - Free gift of righteousness. Grace gets you there. You have to be willing to die to yourself.
49:50 - Why is it narrow? Because few die to themselves.
50:00 - That's what keeps us from the Promised Land (YESTERDAY). When you are free from yourself that is promised land living.
50:20 - Free from me / free from you - Because I wasn't free from me, I was still bound to you. So if we're not careful we'll preach a gospel that incorporates Him into our life instead of Him becoming our life. Or we get saved for what He can do for us instead of how He can make us more like Him.
50:45 - Participant comment - narrow way
51:15 - The eye of the needle is Jesus. The way is following Him. The way is revealed. We come to the Father through Him. But the door is narrow because it's a selfless - die to yourself - pick up your cross - follow Him... It's the only way.
51:45 - But once you go through that narrow door you find yourself in a broad place - the kingdom. He set me in a broad place - Ps. 31:8. The broad place of His mercy, His love. It's not a walk the line, rigid kind of walk. It's liberty and freedom. For freedom Christ set us free - Gal. 5:1.
52:25 - I don't use my liberty for an occasion for the flesh - Gal. 5:13. That shouldn't be a problem because I died to my flesh when came in by the narrow way. I'm not looking for an easy ride. I'm looking for a way to be changed. Because when I look at Jesus I so admire what I see.

Facing Trials in Faith

53:00 - Participant reads surrounding Ps. 31:8 (above) - In trials we forget to live from the broad place of authority, freedom.
53:50 - When facing trials Christians examine the situation to see what we did to open the door - what might be causing. Throws identity away and confidence in Him. Common in the church.
54:15 - The devil comes because he's a jerk and challenges your faith and believes you will sell out under the pressure.
54:35 - Respond in faith - You haven't turned me over to anybody. I have a right and authority in You. I have the power of the Name of Jesus and a very sharp sword. And I thank you that I'm your son... That's a broad place.
54:50 - We take on the identity that the affliction wants to give us. And from that place we try to fight our way out.
55:25 - [Trying to find a verse]
56:00 - Reflecting on who you used to be, only through the blood. Don't take on that identity or regret.
56:20 - I'm glad I don't forget that stuff. It keeps my heart sober and attentive. It reminds me of His mercy continually. I see where He has brought me from.

Narrow Way - Selfish vs. Selfless (cont.)

57:40 - Participant comment - Mt. 7:13-14 - broad way - wide gate
58:05 - Wide gate - Incorporate Jesus into your life. Fail to heed Mt. 16:24 - Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me. If you come in any other way, it's not His way.
58:30 - People want to take short cuts.
58:40 - The popular way is not the way. Gospel of meeting our needs, going to heaven, bless me, applying faith to get through the day in a more convenient way. It's all about US. Produces discouragement, mad at God, identity crisis. It's incorporating Him into your life.
59:55 - The two roads - In this scripture I see - Selflessness vs. Selfishness - Those are the two roads.
1:00:05 - Wilderness Experiences - The same thing that made the wilderness experiences of Jesus and Israel so different. Same God. Same wilderness. Two different perspectives. They die. Jesus is anointed with Spirit and power.
1:00:50 - Selfish vs. Selfless - Jesus didn't come for you to live for Him. He came to live for you so that you would be so touched and overtaken by that that you would follow Him. Your God died for you. It's designed to blow you away - smash everything in us that is not of Him.
1:01:40 - Preacher in India - Earthquake. Man dies trying to protect idols. Headline: Hindu man dies for his gods. In Christianity the headline: God dies for His man.
1:02:30 - Comment by Pastor Don W. - Selfish vs. Selfless - sobering scripture - more going to hell. He goes on to talk about Mt. 7:21 - Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord... I never knew you. How could this be? Everything they did was never about Him but always about them. God's more concerned with the motivation than the action. Not to bring glory to the Father but to bring recognition for themselves. Self-centered ministries. Guard your heart.

Motives will be Tested by Fire - Selfish vs. Selfless

1:04:50 - Motives - You can't fly higher than your motive - The motive of your heart is so important. The "why." God is much more concerned with your motive than your action. Why? Because you can't rise above your motive. Even if you do great things they are nothing if they are not motivated by love - 1 Cor. 13:1-3. They are motivated some kind of self-interest. And then it won't come under the multiplication of God's grace and blessing. It's probably the arm of flesh.
1:05:30 - I'm not sure that the heaven vs. hell thing is the focus as much as non-prospering. 1 Cor. 3:11 - says that no man can lay a foundation except in Christ. You build with differing material. Stuff that is tested by fire. The wood, stubble and straw is works of the flesh. Foundation - Seeing a need for a Savior. And yet continue in the flesh. Come in by the Spirit and continue in the flesh. I don't know that those people are going to hell. I wouldn't suggest that.
1:06:40 - We preach a gospel that doesn't deal with man's selfishness. Sometimes what we preach reinforces selfish motives.
1:07:00 - Everything he builds is going to be burned up. And a lot of Christians are living this way. All they build will be burned with fire but they are still saved - sozo.
1:08:00 - Building rightly vs. building through the flesh - need, fear, etc.
1:08:25 - God is the just judge.
1:08:30 - Overall here is what I see - God is saying that there are a whole lot more people living for themselves than living selfless. Whether that takes them to hell...??? There are some people who have only ever heard that message - Pray a prayer to go to heaven. And the way that seems right to man dominates their life.
1:09:15 - Holy Spirit can work in us...
1:09:20 - How that all works out in the end (I don't know).

* * *

1:09:40 - Beliefs that Dan does not preach on. They don't change the big picture. I never preach on Revelations and end times. Do you know why? Because it doesn't change the truth of who we are today and why.
1:10:00 - [Recording stops while Dan shares thoughts off the record]
1:10:20 - [Further explaining off the record comments] God is not one bit legalistic.
1:10:30 - Participant's comment - Resurrection with Christ - whether we willingly laid down our lives. Lives of holiness.
1:11:25 - Perfection is not the key. Sincerity and purity is key.
1:11:35 - Resurrection from the dead by the Spirit of holiness. Remission of sin. How can death hold you. That's why to absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - 2 Cor. 5:8. It's that same power because God and His Son and us have all become one.

Selfish vs. Selfless (cont.)

1:12:00 - Participant's comment - He who seeks to save his life will lose it.
1:12:10 - See the difference? Selfish vs. selfless. If you save your life you've already lost it. If you lose your life then you find what your life really is. It really comes down to this one thing - Selfish vs. Selfless. There's no selfishness in love and no love in selfishness. Man was created love and became what he became. Deny that, pick up your cross, follow Him and become love. Do you see what the Christian journey is all about?

1:13:15 - BREAK

Inspired to Obey

1:13:25 - v.3 - And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. -
1:13:45 - v.4 - He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. -
1:14:35 - It sounds so harsh sometimes but the truth is the truth. No cutting corners. No middle ground. Light doesn't go with darkness.
1:15:10 - v.4 - Your life lived reveals that you know Him. When you really know Him there is an automatic inspiration to follow Him because He is so amazing. To know Him is to love Him. And if you love Him you will keep His commandments.
1:15:45 - v.3 - That doesn't mean that we keep His commandments to prove our love. We keep His commandments because we love Him. We see the beauty of who He is...
1:16:15 - v.3 - To know Him is to be inspired to obey Him. The revelation of who God is is your inspiration. And that totally separates obedience from legalism or "ought to." That's what separates you from the bondage mentality of feeling like you need to save the whole world (@34:20). But there is still a level of expression. Why? Because you know Him and knowing Him is your inspiration.
1:17:10 - Things that take the place of knowing Him - knowledge, service, ministry.
1:17:40 - Inspired all the more to seek Him and commune. Intimacy.
1:18:00 - Legalism - People that don't have intimacy live more legalistically and compare to one another by what we are doing. But who we are should inspire our doing.
1:18:30 - v.4 -
1:18:35 - v.5 - But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. -
1:18:55 - v.6 - He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. - Do you hear any limitation in that? (I can walk as He walked!) Jesus said, "Follow me" because we can. Things that would hold you back are not true. They want to yoke you up.
1:19:35 - v.6 - Just as He walked! Eph. 5:1 - Walk in love just as Jesus loved. Just as. Your heart can live from the same place that My heart abides. So the only thing that can restrain us is what we hold onto or what we are ignorant of or holding to the way that seems right. Our heart can be just like His.
1:21:00 - Legalistic living - heart not like His - just TRYING to love one another. "I'm trying to love you but you stretch me."
➡ 1:22:00 - We covered this the first week: Christ has become the wisdom of God for us. Wisdom is Jesus.
1:22:30 - v.6 -
1:22:40 - v.5 - It doesn't say that because you are keeping His word, God is perfecting his love. That would be works. You're keeping His word because of love. Inspired by His perfect love. Do you see the importance of receiving His first love, letting sin be washed away, receiving sonship and understanding your right identity? And that if we don't preach that whole message - and just make it about sin - that we'll never see the power of His love? We'll just question why God is so interested in me. Still in Ps. 8. We need to know why He loves us. The goodness of God changes us.
1:24:35 - Sin-consciousness keeps us from appreciating the love of God for what it is. And you'll just try to pay Him back with your life. Fail miserably and not have a good impression of yourself. And wonder why He loves you.
1:25:00 - Many sincere people live in that. Sincere and God fearing but in identity crisis. They have no ability to see themselves differently unless the truth would come and make them free.

The Enemy's Opposition to the Gospel

1:25:25 - Enemy's false teaching integrated into the gospel. Designed to steal, kill, destroy now that Jesus has come.
1:26:35 - Enemy was played like a pawn. Killed the Son of God. Opened the door to redemption. So he does everything to subvert the message.
1:26:55 - Strategies - Appearance of godliness without the power. Confession without transformation. If the message doesn't bring transformation then it's not the message that He preached.
1:28:20 - What other people don't believe can't change what I see.

* * *

1:28:45 - Feeling the pleasure of the Lord. I feel that right now. When you surrender human intellect to His wisdom.
1:29:30 - Truth is your best friend - The life of Jesus and the word of God. Think much of it and let it become yours. Truth is Him. Everything else is a lie and has been designed to keep the truth suppressed - to keep the beauty of who you are at bay. Your life is so worth living.
1:30:10 - v.7 - Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. -
1:30:30 - v.8 - Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. - True in Him and in you. Don't miss that.
1:31:00 - Darkness is passing - True light shining - a prophetic phrase. Light of the gospel is shining and the darkness is fading. Now is the day for salvation. That's not just when the trumpet blow. Embrace that for you sphere of influences.

Intercession

1:31:50 - Prayer - interceding along the theme of the darkness passing away.
1:32:15 - Intercession - praying from God's view. Men are ready and have been ready - the fields are white. Look up to see through God's eyes. If you look level - they don't look ready. Think from the highest view.
1:33:25 - Intercession - Don't be motivated by the problem. See the problem from His view - truth. Proclaim and declare the answer. Why is that intercession? We're created in His image to subdue the works of His hands. Say what God is saying. It's like God praying. It's like God commanding.
1:34:05 - If you identity is not settled you will feel like that teaching is blasphemous. "Who do you think you are?"

* * *

1:34:30 - v.8 - New commandment - Love one another. It's true in Him and in you. You have the capacity to love because the grace of God is with us. Or you can hold onto you - rights - human wisdom - natural reasoning - prosecuting attorney to allow you to remain the same at the cost of truth.
1:35:10 - That's not challenging. Otherwise it's just the flesh saying, "Don't kill me."
1:35:30 - Does it say somewhere in the Bible that selfishness is evil? - Where there is selfishness and envy there is every evil work - Jas. 3:16. It's a component, attribute of the enemy.

Intercession (cont.)

1:36:20 - Intercession - Praying against selfishness but not being changed to eliminate selfishness from your own heart.
1:37:20 - Identity from intercession - deceived. Addressing that in private.
1:38:45 - Gossip - Not addressing things in private but talking to others about the problem. Spiritually justified.
1:39:20 - Love is not a weak place - pushover - mushy thing. Love takes a strong stand for truth but not at the cost of the value, potential and destiny of the person.
1:40:20 - Darkness is passing away - God is sanctifying me. Prayer - Light is shining. Darkness passing away.... That's true prayer because it's answer oriented. Not problem driven.
1:41:15 - That's how you can tell whether you are in faith or in the flesh - motivated by answer vs. problem. Satan loves it when you pray because everything is so wrong all around you. People spend their life praying that way. No light at the end of the tunnel.
1:42:00 - The only reason to be inspired to pray is because you see the answer or the promise. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word - Rom. 10:17. And faith works through love - Gal. 5:6. And love sent the word - John 3:16. The word became flesh - John 1:14. That's what inspires me to pray - the answer - the word. Not the problem.

No Cause for Stumbling - Free from Offense

1:42:45 - v.9 - He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. - Sounds harsh.
1:43:30 - v.10 - He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. - No cause for stumbling - Live offense free - We should be heading there. No cause for stumbling. Why? Because I love you. It's not conditional. Is God stumbled by our former lives? It brought out the best in Him. Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more - Rom. 5:20.
1:44:15 - Stumbling - offense - trap - snare - stumbling block.
1:45:00 - Light is love and love is light. Unfailing love. God is love and in Him there is no darkness - 1 John 1:5.
1:46:40 - Can you imagine God going back to before we were saved and saying, "I'm just having a hard time getting over this." The only reason that you could do that is because you are thinking about how that act affected you at that time. Who is allowing that mindset. It's all about you.
1:48:25 - Mindset of offense - [Snare of offense scenario] I can't believe you did that. How can I trust you? How do I know that you won't do that to me again? I don't see your value except for how it serves me. Because you haven't measured up, I'm hurt.
1:50:40 - We think that mindset is normal. But it is grossly fallen. So not the kingdom.
1:51:10 - Victim vs. Bad Guy. Victim has no expression of Christ.
1:51:40 - All of us were born into self-centeredness that carries great expectation on others. And we can be made or broken by the world around us. We're all broken until Christ because men fail.
1:52:00 - What restoration is available for a relationship when someone has been hurt? - Yes, It's called: become love. In Christ, there was never a problem. It's just the opportunity to be Christ-like and to love. No expectations. The other person is not alive for you. You enjoy loving them. What a privilege to love him even in a moment of testing. Seeing their value.
1:53:00 - In Christ it was never even a problem. The only reason there was a problem is because we have self-centered desire and expectation on one another. And we give each other the right to "fail" each other.
1:53:15 - You can't emotionally abuse me. That makes me free from you.
1:54:00 - v.10 - Abide - live, dwell and remain. Put on love and there is never a problem. That is so liberating. The only way I can be offended is self-centered thinking.
1:55:10 - Trust - [Scenario of offense and apology] - "I don't know if I can trust him." The Bible says to put no trust in flesh - Ps. 118:8. But we're to live trustworthy. If I demand trust out of him, I am already insecure. Insecure - I would have to watch you everyday to make sure that you are fulfilling that trust. Called to live trustworthy. Watching him to see where he messes up. But eventually this drives a wedge in the relationship.
1:57:20 - At what point do you cut him off? Thinking bad of the person.
1:58:05 - Release faith towards them. Releasing the best. Because you have spent time with God. This should be normal everyday kingdom living.
1:59:00 - Don't be threatened at the accountability of this teaching. You want to be like Him.
1:59:10 - How do you get past thoughts that you don't want to have about a person? - The same way that you cast down vain thoughts and imaginations that rise against the knowledge of God. Are those thoughts in agreement with the knowledge of God in that area? No. So as soon as they come, proclaim truth over the situation and say what God would say. That keeps your mind in agreement with truth.
1:59:45 - Your mind is where the trap tries to take place. That's where satan puts the snare. Thoughts that get you functioning outside the sphere of truth. And if you don't keep on top of them, they slowly become a belief system and have a place in your life.
2:00:30 - [Example scenario of thoughts not in agreement with truth] Crush it with truth. Or else it becomes a stronghold.

Dealing with Gossip

2:01:45 - First Impression - reading into things. Unresolved conflict.
2:02:45 - Dealing with Gossip. Like a seed.
2:03:30 - Getting mad when something offensive happens against a loved one.
2:04:15 - Unresolved gossip creates doubts. It's there to taint the truth. See less than their value.
2:05:00 - Knock rumor out with truth. Call to accountability those spreading rumors. How they are hurting people.
2:06:00 - Reestablishing the integrity of the target of the rumor. Settle the matter. Don't spread it.
2:07:20 - Let's just call them right now. They won't do that again.
2:08:25 - The root of bitterness springing up defiles many - Heb. 12:15.
2:08:30 - How do you help pull someone together when people are talking about them? (gossip) - Be careful when everybody is speaking well of you. We have to be bigger than what is being said about us.

* * *

2:09:55 - Can we say generally that we shouldn't put expectations on other people? - If you put expectations on others you will fall into the trap of what we are talking about. We're to live trustworthy but not put our trust in man. Don't put your trust in man or your expectations will be failed. And you get hurt, justify living in the flesh and never live by the Spirit. And they will become your barometer on how life is going. That's weakness.
2:10:35 - We will hit the rest of 1 John in this school.
2:11:00 - Closing Prayer - We are all one. Seeing value in one another. Stone upon stone in a spiritual house.
