Day 51 (2011)

A Day for Questions (in red below) - For more Q&A with pastor Dan try the page dedicated to Q&A.

6:10 - Opening prayer - peace in You - Answer in You

7:15 - How do you cope with a negative or cerebral family? @ 7:17

Become love - avoid frustration - can seem overwhelming. We started this school talking about love - becoming love - seeing people for who they are and letting our hearts cry FOR people instead of BECAUSE of people. There’s a big difference between those two. There is a place to see your family in a right perspective. And not just be frustrated. When you are frustrated, you have no voice in their life. Don’t even try to speak to them if you are frustrated. You can produce bad things. You are responsible for having your heart in a good place. Ask Jesus to put His heart into you in such a way that you see them in truth through compassion with love.

9:40 - Earn a voice - So that the consistency of your life will lend weight to your words. You begin to earn a voice in their life. Your words may be few but they are working more than you realize.

10:10 - Don’t lose heart - The thing is, you can't lose heart. You can’t let a negative/cerebral family dominate truth in your life.

10:50 - Ask a question - Get them to think - When you are not frustrated ask a question. “What makes you think that? Where do you get that?” Just get them to think about what they are saying and why they believe what they are saying. Some people have never considered the foundation of truth in their life and they just believe the things they believe. And there might be a chance to sow just a little bit - not Bible bashing. “I’m curious as to why you say that because I can’t see that. This is what I see.” Imparting some level of truth. Holding their heart to account, “Why do I believe that? Why am I so confident?” Some people can’t even answer you. It’s just what they have learned their whole life.

11:50 - I need to know why I believe what I believe so that I can know if it is founded in truth - founded in Christ.

12:05 - Go gently - Light touches - Truth at small level. Where it is almost touch and go. In time people will see the consistency of your life - recognize your heart - not feel threatened by you. When you stand for something different, immediately someone that is not pursuing God is threatened by the difference. They want to put up walls.

12:50 - Stay steady in truth - Walk in light. Speak truth. Don’t be afraid if they think you are Miss Positive. It’s ok. “You know guys. It does me no good to think that way. What do you have to hope in? Where is joy ever coming from?” And God will provide opportunities to address some of that negativity.

13:30 - What do you do when someone just doesn't want to listen? @ 13:30

13:35 - (Brother in law who will just get up and leave as soon as we start to talk about God.) - There are people who are like that. You are not compelled to make them more mad and chase them. I would encourage you to true heart intercession...

13:55 - Intercede for them - God, he doesn’t see. He doesn’t understand. There is wall in his soul that is trying to keep him from you. And I am asking you to break that for his sake. So he can see the beauty of who you are. Father we are praying that you begin to move on him supernaturally and touch the inside of his heart and begin to open him to your voice, open him to your word, open him to people who know you. If we are a threat to him, send others that aren’t a threat. Just surprise him Lord, out in the marketplace one day. Just slip up on him one day through someone that you have ordained and mark his heart for your glory.

14:35 - Don't feel pressured - Running out of time - Don’t be overwhelmed by the feeling that these people are getting older and you want them to know truth. Take that concern to God in prayer. But don’t let it drive you to where you are touching them wrong.

15:15 - What about someone who is always quick to say, "I don't believe that?" @ ~15:20

15:30 - Ask about their beliefs - Ask them where they get their belief from. “I respect that. But I’m curious. How can you be so sure in what you are saying you believe. Is it just a feeling? What do you base that on?” I take them a little deeper, “How are you so sure? How do you really know? Is that something you came up with just to support your own desire? Your life? Where did you get that belief? Are you originating your own belief system? Are you a god unto yourself with your own mind? Or did you get that from somewhere? I'm just curious.”

16:10 - “Well I just don’t want to talk about it.” “I can see that you don’t want to talk about it and that concerns me. I love you.” Sow into them and don’t let them just blow it off. They are going to think about that.

16:40 - Sow during windows of opportunity - I’ll look for an avenue to explain the whole thing. Man - the fall - the tree - man after knowledge - man being a god unto himself - his way is right - Jesus is the revelation of the Father - be renewed in the spirit of your mind. The more access you get, the more you can explain the whole truth. They just don’t understand.

17:20 - Don’t be presumptuous about how they will respond. And not minister anything to them. I say, let’s love not our own life unto death and let’s speak some truth now and then. Ask God for little windows.

17:45 - Speak from a motive of love - not frustration - Make sure your heart is pure. You don’t want to speak to them if you are just frustrated - if you just have a need to be right and set them straight. Get your heart right. It’s not about being right but about loving people.

18:15 - Participant's testimony of the work of Holy Spirit in the heart of a child.

18:30 - Don’t give up on people - write them off. You don’t mark them for where they are living - what they are doing.

18:40 - Summary - So if somebody doesn’t want to listen. We start interceding, thanking God, manifesting love and staying in a healthy place in how you see them. Isn’t that what God did to every one of us. Isn’t that why we are all sitting here, filled with His Spirit? So don’t we want to follow His way and do what He did?

20:00 - What about these passages that seem to contradict love? @ 20:04

20:30 - Alexander the copper smith - 2 Timothy 4:14 -Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:  - If Alexander doesn’t change his ways, he is in for a sad day. That’s all he is saying. That one isn’t tough. He has contested the body of Christ and stopped the work. He has done me much harm. And he is going to reap what he has sown. He has sown into the flesh and of the flesh he is going to reap corruption.

21:00 - But he doesn’t say there isn’t a chance to repent. He just says that the Lord will render to him according to his works.

22:50 - When I preach what I preach, I do it with the understanding that these scriptures are there. They don’t stumble me. I’m confident in the message.

23:00 - Ananias and Sapphira - The only one that I can’t completely explain/understand is Ananias and Sapphira. That one in my natural mind seems strict and troubling. It almost seems like “woah.”

23:20 - Don’t pray for some? - There is another scripture that I can’t explain/understand and it’s 1 John 5:16 - If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. And it says, … I don’t say that you should pray for one who is committing a sin leading to death. But He just got done talking about false teachers - apostate people - children of the devil - people doomed for destruction.

23:55 - Hardness of heart - Here’s the deal. Do you believe that God knows the heart of every man? Yes. Do you believe that God knows whether a man will ever repent? Even if He woos him? Does God know that there are Pharaohs out there that the more signs that you give him, the harder he becomes? Every time that you see a judgement like this in the Bible, it’s in a situation like that. It has nothing to do with us. It has nothing to do with Christians. It has nothing to do with people.

24:30 - I know a ministry that prays this way. I don’t pray this way. And they have some scary testimonies. They pray, God, if you see that they are not going to change, and you know that by the end of their course they will not have changed but that they are just going to hurt, cause lambs to stumble, sheep to be divided - if they are not going to change - judge them - take them out.

25:00 - In my heart I don’t want to make that determination. They are not making that determination but pray, “If you see they are not going to change…” I can't say that I disagree with them. John had some kind of revelation and I have never understood this scripture.

25:25 - Herod eaten by worms - [Let’s go back to Herod and give you an example then we can come back to 1 John 5:16 later.] - The language here can be troubling to some because it directly makes the Lord involved.

25:50 - Acts 12 recap - A serious persecution chapter and Herod is mentioned all the way through. Throws Peter and James into prison. James beheaded. An angel lets Peter out of prison.

26:20 - Acts 12:19 - And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode. - When I see someone like Herod, I think I want to pray and cry and ask God to come and change His heart and life. Save Him God. He doesn’t know. I don’t know anything else and I don’t want to assume that Herod is an apostate, anti-Christ agreeing, child of the devil. So that part I don’t understand. I don’t want to do that (not pray). But God knows Herod. He sees the long term picture. I don’t understand how we are supposed to know.

27:20 - Herod kills James - was going to kill Peter. Peter was delivered by the Lord and the guards couldn’t explain and the guards are all killed. So this man is on a tear. And it’s not just that, but there is something about the human heart and people not changing. You see it in Peter’s language, in 1 John, in this situation and in 2 other places where judgement came. And it will all make sense when we are done.

28:10 - v20-22 - And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country. And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. - Is God just? Is anybody going to get ripped off at the judgement seat? So God knows all things. He knows the hearts of men. He knows the big picture.

29:10 - These scriptures are not directed toward us - This situation has nothing to do with the Christian life. This has nothing to do with God towards us. Everything we are teaching in this school isn't threatened by this story - even a little bit. This isn't somebody who stumbled and said, “Oh my God.” This is somebody that has totally set his heart against God. Killing God’s people. Killing his own people. And now he is accepting the praise of people.

29:45 - Judgement - I could tell you about a couple of cases of judgement and they are frightening and I know them but I don’t talk about them. I don’t understand them but I still preach what I preach. Because I am not preaching to people like Herod. I'm preaching to Christians. I'm preaching to people who care.

30:00 - Have I blasphemed the Holy Spirit - the unpardonable sin? @ 30:00

30:00 - Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit - Many have come to me concerned that they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit and were sure that they had committed the unpardonable sin (Mark 3:29). I tell them there is no way. The fact that you care about it is evidence enough. He’s talking about people who have totally disregarded His working and totally deny Him. The fact that you care means that there is no way that you have committed an unpardonable sin. The fact that you even have the question means that you are fine. Get on with God.

30:35 - Enemy’s strategy is to condemn us with these scriptures - Satan wants to use these instances of scripture as if they are us. I’m not talking to a room full of Herod’s. You’re not in this school with Herod’s heart. Herod would not be in this school. He would bring an army to kill us. He’s not seeking God. He set himself totally against God. Alexander the coppersmith set himself totally against God. And Paul knows what’s in store.

31:15 - Elymas - be blind for a time - Paul told him about his own heart. What he always does - sets his way against God. Paul tells him, “You will be blind for a time.” Here is Paul, a minister of the gospel - love, mercy, grace, forgiveness - but out of the blue he defines this man’s heart as a son of the devil, and Paul speaks and Elymas is instantly blind. That is not sickness. It’s actually a form of mercy.

31:50 - Paul struck blind - for three days. When he opens his eyes, it’s a brand new life. It’s almost like a baptism. He was blind to all of that intellect and knowledge - it’s all rubbish now - wow, open my eyes and now I see. I was blind and now I see.

32:20 - These scriptures are not addressing sickness through sin - That stuff has nothing to do with what we talked about - sickness coming through sin. And people paying the price for their sin. No, when you’re repentant and your heart is going after God, even in your weakness, He’ll make you strong. His grace is sufficient for you. There is so much health in God. When Paul talks about a man like that (Herod)... I’m not teaching a school filled with that man.

32:40 - Elymas blinded is an unique event - And that is the only occasion you see Paul doing that. But he identified him. And the Bible says that the Holy Spirit was upon him. So God knows the hearts of men.

32:50 - These scriptures are not addressed to believers - We are not sons of the devil. You are not looking to miss it. You are in this school because you want God. You have nothing to do with these stories.

33:00 - These stories are a sobering and humbling thing that say who are we to stand against God? Who are we to co labor with the devil and cause harm to innocent souls?

33:40 - God is not a puppet master, saying you will worship me. He’s wooing our hearts with His nature, His love, His message of restoration. We’re children, not puppets. We’re not robots.

34:30 - A rare event -  Elymus - you will be blind for a time. That is a rare thing. This is the only time you see Paul moving this way. There are a couple of times that God moves this way. One guy fell over dead. One was blind for a time. That’s a pretty good wake up call. But it takes you being in a place where you and I have never dabbled near for us to be in those shoes.

35:10 - The mercy in it is that God just said for a time. Why? Because mercy is saying, wake up and change. To be sober. To back off and stop being so presumptuous. Herod didn’t get that.

35:30 - Herod (continued) - v.23 - And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. -

It’s flat out judgement. It’s moving him out of the way because of where His heart is. Does God know if a man is not going to change? Does God know if grace is being thwarted and hardness is continuing?

36:00 - Not God's hardening Herod's heart - Is God the one hardening? Absolutely not. Jesus died once for ALL.  It’s God’s desire that ALL men be saved. That ALL men be filled with the knowledge of truth. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. But that the wicked would turn - change - repent.

36:30 - Judgement when there is no repentance - If a man refuses to repent, in the end he is going to be what? Judged. You can actually find the love of God in that.

36:45 - So these are scenarios that have nothing to do with the Christian - extreme scenarios.

37:30 - The worms had dominion over him. But he was created to be a son.

38:00 - Paul struck blind - It’s a different heart than Paul had watching the clothes of Stephen. Paul didn’t have Herod’s heart. Probably not many do. There are not very many incidences of this in the NT of these kinds of things - Ananias and Sapphira - Herod - and then there are a couple of judgments or pending judgments if there is no change. But every time you’ll see the language is common.

38:25 - Paul’s heart v. Herod’s heart - Paul was very reachable, but just misinformed - zealous for God and for the law. Watching the coats believing he is doing God a favor - not obstinate to God. It’s a whole different heart than Herod. Herod is totally obstinate to God. He is killing because of God, not to help God.

39:00 - Paul was complicit in killing Stephen, was dragging Christians to prison, driving them away from their homes but the whole time he believed he was doing it for God.

39:25 - God knows Paul's heart - Paul gets a bright light, falls off horse, voice speaks. That’s an amazing form of grace after you just given Christians such a hard time. Blindness was healed. God knew he was zealous and misinformed. To us he looks wicked. But to God his heart looks totally different from Herod’s heart. God knows. God is so not unjust or He would have never sent His Son. He would have just eaten most of us with worms. He knows we’re not Herods. We’re Sauls and He wants to make us Pauls so He sent His Son.

41:20 - Elymas (continued) - Acts 13

41:30 - v.8 - Elymas opposes them. You don’t see Paul impatient with people. The girl with the demon followed them for days shouting out before Paul spoke to the demon. You see him going into cities preaching the gospel, knowing that he is going to be beaten.

42:00 - Elymas’ heart - But Elymas is getting in the way of the proconsul’s faith. Seeking to turn him away from the faith. Elymas has set his heart totally against God. Obstructing the ministry of righteousness.

42:20 - v.9-11 - Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. - He is addressing a heart. He’s not getting eaten with worms so he is not even a Herod. But he sure is on that course.

43:10 - These verses are not addressed to struggling Christians - This does not change the mercy of God and the NT reality that Christ is the revelation of God and healing is the children’s bread. He’s not talking about Christians that are struggling. He’s talking about people who are a million miles from truth and don’t want any part of it. But this guy is not even in that category.

43:50 - Looked intently - He is discerning.

44:00 - I don’t want to discern motives - I’ve prayed please don’t show me the motives of people hearts’. It’s too risky. I don’t want to see what is moving people. People assume motives all the time. We are walking in judgement and don’t even realize it. And that makes me nervous. I just want to believe people for what they say and let their lives reveal that. But I’m not watching to see if they are sincere. But there are times when God shows me motive.

44:50 - Vision of lady’s heart turned black - I called her and shared it openly - It changed her.

47:10 - Elymus wasn’t uninformed and clueless. Some people choose darkness.

48:40 - Disciples want to call down fire - God's mercy towards the Samaritans - When the disciples wanted to call down fire, Jesus told them that they didn’t even know what spirit they were of. Do you hear the mercy of God? Let God be God on this one. He knows the heart of every man.

50:25 - Not applicable to believers - This has nothing to do with healing. It has nothing to do with the Christian and the right to redemption. This is a son of the devil, enemy of righteousness, not ceasing to pervert the right ways of the Lord. And this is actually a sign of mercy.

52:30 - Blindness was God’s mercy - only for a time - For Elymus, the blindness was actually God’s mercy. He was blind for a time. The love of God is in that. Well where was the love of God for Herod? Do you think God loved Herod? Yes. Do you think God knows the bigger picture and what Herod set his heart on?

53:20 - Destruction for false teachers - 2 Peter 2:12 - But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; -

53:30 - [backing up to read from v.4] - These are people who have set their way against the Lord. These are people that actually know the gospel. Walk in the flesh, despise authority, speak evil. He’s not talking about struggling Christians.

56:00 - Don’t decide who will and will not repent - He is writing as if they will never repent. But don’t you start deciding who that is. You pray for those people. And show them love. We are not God. We are called to manifest God.

57:10 - They are perishing in their own corruption.

58:00 - Spots on our love feast - adultery - serious reproach.

100:30 - Counseling with right motive. Love is strong. Correcting in love.

101:45 - Correcting children from right motive. Devil wants to condemn.

102:50 - We are so fragile - so subject to the devil’s condemnation - that it is hard to talk about things like dependency on coffee without people falling apart. We can’t be so fragile. We are supposed to be surrendered.

103:45 - Compromising the conscience - People are crying out for more of God reality but they compromise their consciences, get grayed out and don’t even feel like they can approach God with an unveiled face.

104:30 - Pushing God away - pushing away His voice. That voice was God’s goodness, His love  never failing. Screaming at the Bible. Do you see that as judgement, condemnation? No, that is God holding onto me. I had the most obstinate heart at the time but I’m not a Herod. I’m misinformed, young, deceived. Not one day went by where I didn’t think about where my life was and wasn’t.

107:15 - Backsliding. God’s loving voice drawing us back.

108:00 - v.13 - And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; - I’m not telling you to figure out who they are. God knows who they are.

108:30 - Pastor of church - lustful spirit - slept with all of the women of the church - confronted him - it was demonic.

111:40 - v.14 - Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: - They have schemes and fantasies - a twisted place.

111:50 - Not applicable - So these judgement things have nothing to do with the covenant children of God. Totally different scenario. It seems they have crossed a line.

112:55 - I promote reconciliation, repentance. That’s where we need to live from. God knows this other stuff. We are not judging Herod. God is the one who struck him. We should be praying for a Herod, I believe.

113:20 - v.15 - Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; -

113:25 - Can you lose your salvation? - once saved always saved? God knows who is saved. You need to know that you are saved. His Spirit bears witness with your spirit. But these people are in our love feasts. It doesn’t sound like they are going to be at the party. You stay sober. You believe the best about all men. And you live for Jesus.

114:20 - Unforgiveness - passionate sermon - C. Dollar. Don’t be thin skinned. It’s the heart cry of love.

116:30 - Only God knows the hearts of men. And you know yours. What a gift.

117:00 - v.16-19 - But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. -

Saved for transformation - I read this type of scripture a lot. It’s why I preach what I preach. You are not saved to go to heaven. You are saved for a transformed life. The greatest call of God is your nature transformed. If I am preaching transformation you are never in this category.

119:15 - v.20 - For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. -

119:20 - Can you lose your salvation? - That one scripture right there settles the question, can you lose your salvation? He’s talking about walking away from God and setting yourself against righteousness. He’s not talking about backsliding and coming home to Jesus.

120:00 - Backsliding - spiritual siesta. Sleeping together. The person who knows the truth is in a much more serious situation. Give no place to the devil.

123:00 - v.21 - For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. -

124:00 - I preach the answer - I fix on the answer when I preach the gospel. I could preach all of these scriptures to help you feel better about what I preach but I never do. I don’t feel like God wants me to right now. I feel like He wants me to preach the answer and throw a couple of thoughts out there now and then. The goodness of God leads men to repentance. If I preach these scriptures in a service, because of condemnation I could have the whole altar filled and we could call it a move of God. I could preach on every thing we are missing and lacking and aren’t surrendered in and call men to repentance - the whole church would come forward. No, let’s preach that we are growing up into Him.

125:40 - Sometimes we read scriptures like this and say, “I see some of that in my life.” When you see some of that in your life you say, “God, you didn’t create me for that.” That beats reading that and wondering if you are saved.

126:00 - Wondering if I am saved. That’s just condemnation and frustration and judging yourself.

127:00 - Don’t pray for some - 1 John 5:16 - I don’t understand it. I have taken a position on it. It’s only very rarely that this situation happens in ministry. I’m puzzled by this but it has to mean something.

128:20 - Witch doctor raised from the dead - that’s mercy.

131:00 - 1 John 5:16 - If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. -

131:45 - Dan’s position - pray for all men until Jesus instructs differently - Until Jesus tells me differently, I am going to pray for all men. And I am going to believe that everybody can change.  ...until I get a better revelation of that scripture. When we start making those determinations, we are going to make big mistakes.

132:30 - You can intercede for people and grace can stay over their lives.

133:20 - There are some people who won’t change. And there are sins leading to death. I just don’t want to know who they are.

134:00 - Walking contrary to known truth. It grays you out.

135:25 - BREAK

136:30 - Jezebel in the church - Revelation 2

136:40 - What about predestination? - There are some who believe that the people who are saved are saved because God wants them saved and the people who are not saved, God didn’t want saved. He called some to be saved and some not. God knows who they are. And that was all determined before time.

137:00 - No, God knows how men handle the gospel. He knows what you’ll do with Christ before time ever was. He knows the hearts of men. If that (predestination) was true, why would John the baptist rise up and tell us to repent - change the way we think because Christ is coming? He constantly gives man the opportunity and ability to repent - to agree with Him and run with Him.

137:45 - Love is not mushy - The love we are preaching is not a mushy thing. It’s full of truth. Because we have relationship with Him, God can talk plainly.

138:00 - Father us - So Jesus can say plainly to the churches, “But I have this against you…” (Revelation) That doesn't mean He doesn't love you. If we don’t afford Him the opportunity to talk to us like this, how is He going to Father us?

138:20 - Speaking plainly for correction - Woman says to Dan, “You don’t ever need to tell people what is wrong. You just need to speak the truth. And the truth will take care of the rest.” That sounds spiritual but there is no application. How can you correct someone? The word is useful for correction. And everybody needs to be humble enough and not touchy so that we can talk plainly.

139:00 - Fragile people.

139:40 - God speaks plainly to get us on page - to Father us into a place of truth so that we can walk together in agreement. A house divided can’t stand.

140:30 - When are you going to start a church? Church shopping. I want you to build this church. Sounded strange - discernment.

146:00 - Asking to go to the mission field. Without God I would be lost in a day.

147:00 - Knowing the will of God - Zeal without knowledge. They have a motivation but it’s not God. It’s feelings and natural wisdom. And with a lack of fellowship with God, you are just praying for Him to bless your endeavors. But never communing with God to know that you are on the right course.

147:35 - Zeal for ministry - Your ministry can become who you are instead of who you are driving your ministry.

147:50 - Ananias and Sapphira - Acts 5:1-11 - I personally believe that their was such a conviction and atmosphere of God’s glory and holiness - the people were in awe and fear of God - They were selling their possessions for the common good. This thing was family. And right in the middle of that Ananias and Sapphira (A&S) were lying. It was a heart thing. This is the hardest one to explain. It seems harsh.

148:35 - Nonbelievers and believers - A&S were believers - Herod - judgement. Elyus - that was mercy. But he is not talking about Christians in those instances. The A&S thing is really humbling. Knowing the nature of God through Christ, we have to realize that there is more going on in the heart and behind the scenes than we can put into words.

149:00 - Live more from your heart instead of your mind - Here is the trap - our mind. Our minds want to know and calculate everything. Sometimes we are so trapped in our minds. I pray that we can live more out of our hearts. Just knowing the heart of God through Jesus helps me to avoid being real nitpicky, analytical, detailed. It’s not usually a good place. You can look hard enough and find concerns or you can look with your heart and just know.

151:00 - Listen for both sides of the story - Never believe a story to judge another person. Talk to the other party. Two different stories, two hurting people. The more that you talk apart from the heart of God, apart from mercy of God, the more you will affirm the concerns. I’ll talk to you about YOUR heart and YOUR response as opposed to the other person’s heart and response. Never take one side’s story to heart, ever.

153:50 - Pastor Jack on gossip - let's call right now - “Well I don’t know that to be true. How about we just get them on the phone while you are here.” That would keep people from going to leadership with gossip.

154:40 - (Issue with a brother) Is it healthy not to talk to anyone other than God and the person? @ 154:41 -  You talk to God and the person. I would encourage everybody to do that. It doesn’t do any good to gossip. It happens all the time. We dress it in spiritual language. “I just want you to keep it in prayer.” Go to the source and love the person uprightly.

156:50 - Dealing with gossip in the church. Not preaching to the gossip.

157:30 - In service with a pastor who lost a child. Dan talking about losing a child. Persevering through the trial and never losing heart. I never had a thought of that situation.

159:20 - Wife not coming to church. Every time you preach, you are preaching about me.

200:00 - Jezebel in the church - Revelation 2 - v.18-19 - And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. -

200:40 - What is the role of "works"? What's the difference between "being to do"  and "doing to be"? @ 2:00:44 - Faith without works is dead. When you stand before the judgement seat of Christ we’ll be judged by the things you did. “Well I didn’t think it was works.” You are not saved by works. But the fact that you are saved produces works. You know a tree by it’s fruit. Make a tree good and it’s fruit will be good. We’re not trying to do a lot of works to affirm ourselves. That’s why we teach your being, in order to do. So out of right being, your works flow. Your works follow your right identity.

201:30 - I'm struggling to understand the difference between being and doing when I read verses about doing works. Doing is the response - the direct result of a right relationship. When I know that I’m righteous and I have a righteous identity, I’m going to walk in a righteous reality - righteous fruit.

202:00 - Works from striving - If I am doing works to qualify for right standing, I’m going to be condemned a lot - feel like I am not doing enough - be tired - be lacking and I’ll never enter into rest.

202:30 - Works from rest - We are called to works from the place of rest. We aren’t self made. Grace is working through us. Our hearts are transformed. Love is the compelling factor of our life. All of my works flow out of the power of the finished work of Christ. I am His workmanship, created in Christ first - then for good works. And they were predestined beforehand. I was created to live like a son. I was created to manifest His nature - to bear the fruit of righteousness.

205:45-  v.19 above - He’s commends them for the good things and calls them out for some bad.

206:00 - v.20 - Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. -

Shut down sin in the church - He’s asking them why they aren’t setting this situation in order. They are acting as if it is ok. In the next couple of verses He is addressing the ones who are pursuing this lie and bringing this lie into the church - corrupting the church. But He is addressing the church for simply allowing it to happen. The world doesn’t know not to do this kind of stuff but the body should.

207:30 - 1 Cor 5

207:45 - Truth with love - confront the lie - don't accommodate the lie - I don’t tell you to treat the world this way. They don’t know any better. Don’t hold them to something they don't know. But the church is sending a weird message to weaker Christians and the world. You are letting your life give them an excuse. If you accommodate that, without confronting the lie… What are you doing? You are so much more than this. That’s love.

208:20 - It’s not some mushy love. We act like these other scriptures aren’t there. We can’t ignore the truth of the situation.

209:30 - "Don’t judge me" - cop out. Speaking truth in love. The thing that is trying to avoid and squirm out - that’s not love.

211:00 - Father us - That’s what Jesus is doing here. We want a Father. Let Him Father us. Truth in love.

211:30 - I don’t care how you talk to me. I know you love me. You already sent Jesus. You just talk to me. You keep me straight. You Father me. I don’t want to live thin skinned. You talk to me as a son.

212:10 - God talks straight to me - “Oh, you’re not serious. You’re learning a language.”

212:50 - The heart can be so deceived without the grace and mercy of God.

213:00 - Your heart is way behind the expression of your mouth. 3 paragraphs. Open vision.

214:10 - Christianese - empty spiritual language.

214:40 - Father me.

215:20 - Jezebel - OT queen that brought in Canaanite worship. Very corrupt. People in the church went crazy with the whole “spirit of Jezebel” idea.

216:45 - Jezabel - false teaching - He’s talking about an individual in this church - a false prophetess - corrupt teaching. Or a group of people that have that same deception. But He is addressing teachers - people in the church who have influence.

217:20 - He is addressing this specific church - He’s not talking right now to the rest of the church. He’s talking about this person who is on a bent road. He’s talking about the wolves coming in that are going to bring in funny teaching and try to gain authority. He’s talking to people who need to come clean.

218:20 - Addressing Jezabel - through the leadership - What you are doing is bringing destruction and if you don’t repent it’s going to bring consequence to your life. It’s the love of God to tell you that when you are way out of bounds. He’s calling these people into account but He wants to do it through the leadership. Why? Because He doesn’t have a voice with them. They aren’t seeking Him. He’s talking to the ones who have a voice with them so that they can represent Him face to face.

220:00 - It’s contamination my sheep. Defiles their destinies. Sexual immoralities, eating things sacrificed - there are some people who don’t have faith to do that and it violates their conscience.

220:35 - v.21 - And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. - This is not the first time He has brought it to their attention. This deception is sucking people in. He knows that they know what they are doing. He is convicting all the time.

222:30 - He’s not talking to you. He’s talking to people who are bent on destruction - false teachers, obstinate, apostate - people who are set against the way of righteousness.

222:55 - v.22 - Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. - What if God just pulls back grace and covering.

223:10 - Trust God’s judgement - God is not unjust. He knows the heart. If He does something it must be right. Believe His justice. Understand His love is great and unfailing. That’s why He has to make that decision because He sees from beginning to end.

223:35 - Siding with the enemy. Bargains with the devil. Power - ruling, controlling and being on top.

225:50 - He is talking about a wilful heart that does so much damage to innocents.

226:40 - These scriptures do not challenge the gospel message - None of these scriptures has anything to do with new covenant and when you have seen the Son you have already seen the Father and His will to heal - or your birthright and inheritance in Christ. He’s talking about a different heart than yours - a heart that you have never been close to.

227:00 - Blaspheming of the Holy Spirit - a rejecting of His work. Resisting, refusing and making yourself a god unto yourself.

227:20 - v.23 - And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. -

This is not your deal - This language has nothing to do with you. It has to do with obstinate people that are hurting innocent people and hearing the voice of God to repent and having the chance to change and saying “Whatever. Out of my face, God. I’ll do what I want to do.” Well, not to innocent people. Not to His babies.

228:45 - Why doesn’t everyone get healed?

230:20 - If any one of these people had cried out and said I’m sorry, what would happen immediately. Mercy. Then why are we so stumbled when they don’t cry out and God has to respond?

232:50 - Closing prayer
